Pasteurizadores Jersey was founded in 1926 by Cesareo Jimenez Perez in Tijuana, Mexico under the name of Lecheria La Suiza. Prior In 1926 Cesareo bought his first pasteurizer and 4 head filler and started filling glass bottles with milk. Cesareo’s son Ernesto Jimenez Orozco took over the business in 1950. In 1977 Jersey purchased their first Uniloy Reciprocating Screw Intermittent Extrusion blow molding machine and started producing their own gallon plastic bottles. Shortly thereafter, Formas Plasticas was formed as the plastic division and the dairy division changed
the name to Pasturizadores Jersey del Noroeste. In 1978 the plastic division was renamed Fabrica Nacional. The company offers a full range of dairy, yogurt, juice, cheese products and the farm has grown to 600 acres and 20,000 head of dairy cows. Today Fabrica Nacional has 7 Uniloy Reciprocating Screw Intermittent Extrusion machine producing over 750,000 bottles per day ranging is size from 8 oz. to 1 gallon.
Where does Jersey stand in the dairy and juice market?
Sanchez: Jersey the leading producer of dairy and juice products in Northwestern Mexico and Baja California today and have been growing at a rate in excess of 10% per year for the past 20 years.
How do you explain this kind of growth in the dairy market that has been somewhat flat for the past 10 years?
Sanchez: As you know we started out as a fresh milk dairy and for years only offered limited dairy products. Today we offer a wide range of fresh milk products and sizes. In addition, we offer yogurt products, cheese products and several juices. We are constantly testing the market with new products in an effort to expand our product line. These new products fuel the growth for the company.
What is Jersey’s market strategy in the dairy and juice market today and in the future?
Sanchez: Jersey strives to offer innovative dairy and juice products to the marketplace of the highest quality. Jersey offers these products in convenient sizes and up to date packaging materials. A considerable amount of money is spent on developing new products and packages to offer our market. In addition, Jersey has spent a lot of money over the past 10 years to vertically integrate the company. Today, in addition to producing our own plastic bottles, we produce all of our caps and labels. Looking forward Jersey will continue to monitor the market we serve and develop new products
and packages to service that market.
How does Uniloy Milacron help Jersey in meeting their packaging needs?
Sanchez: Uniloy Milacron offers Reciprocating Screw Intermittent Extrusion machines in a wide variety of sizes and configurations which allows Jersey to purchase blow molding machines that are best suit their needs. In
other words, we can purchase a blow molding machine that suits the size bottle we want to produce and at the volume we want to produce it. For example, we currently have Uniloy Milacron blow molding machines in our system for gallon, half gallon, one liter, half liter and 8 oz.bottle sizes.
