If the necessity of the customer is to blow mold containers with high quality finish surface, for functional or market reasons (obtainable with costly products that make it smooth, soft, brilliant, or conductive), Uniloy’s answer is called “Deco-ring”.

Thanks to this patent, it is possible in a quick and clean way, without machine stop, to generate an external “coating” layer, so converting a single-layer production into a 2 layer coextrusion process. The two layers obviously fed by two different extruders, can be of the same material but with different colorings or additives or even different raw materials as long as they are compatible (polypropylene on the inside with elastomer externally). Here are some examples:

• For the cosmetic sector, an external layer additive with a master batch aesthetically attractive but expensive, for example metalized, or soft-touch.
• For the automotive sector an external coating to confer superficial and dimensional characteristics suited for coupling seal.
• For the food sector a differentiated external layer with light barrier effect or simply of “shelf-appeal”.
